Listen to Ozomatli's “Mi Destino,” featuring B-Real and Gaby Moreno

Two-time Grammy Award winning band, Ozomatli, are releasing new music just in time for their upcoming summer live shows! “Mi Destino,” out today, is the debut single from their forthcoming studio album, the band's first with Blue Élan Records. The song weaves freely between English and Spanish, with lyrics about the road we all travel to fulfill our destinies. As the band explains, “Whether you're a Dreamer, an immigrant, or a person of color that challenges people’s norms, you're not alone as we each travel this road to fulfill our destinies. It has been our destiny to light up the accomplishments, stories and future highs of the people of this city and the culture who rose up from the working class streets.”

The song, as well as the upcoming album, are produced by David Garza who is fresh off of his own Grammy win, after producing Fiona Apple’s Fetch the Bolt Cutters.

The new single features B-Real (Cypress Hill/Prophets of Rage), Gaby Moreno, along with Ozomatli’s six core band members: Asdru Sierra (lead vocals, trumpet, keyboards), Raul Pacheco (lead vocals, guitar), Willy (Wil-Dog) Abers (bass, vocals), Justin Poree (rap, vocals, percussion), Ulises Bella (saxophone, melodica, clarinet, guitar, requinto, keyboards, vocals) and Jiro Yamaguchi (drums, percussion).

Ozomatli began recording their forthcoming album during the pandemic while each was quarantining separately. The Garza produced album is expected to release in the first quarter of 2022. The Grammy-Award winning band is playing a special hometown show on August 21st at the Greek Theatre joining Los Lobos, The Mavericks and more. Additional tour dates will be announced shortly.
