Title Track from Upcoming Album DIG! Out Today

Acclaimed UK soul outfit Mamas Gun return with “DIG!”, the title track and second single from their forthcoming album DIG!, out today. The new release features a special collaboration with legendary multi-instrumentalist Brian Jackson, known for his seminal work with Gil Scott-Heron, as well as collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Following the release of their first single, “Food For The Flames,” “DIG!” expands the band’s sonic and thematic scope. Recorded straight to analogue tape, the track embodies Mamas Gun’s signature blend of warmth, groove, and message-driven songwriting. Lyrically, “DIG!” is a call to look beyond surface-level narratives—scratching beneath appearances to uncover deeper truths in an increasingly complex world.

The collaboration between frontman Andy Platts and Brian Jackson stretches back nearly two decades. “I met Brian in 2006, near the start of my career, just after I’d signed my first publishing deal,” Platts explains. “Through that deal I was lucky enough to work with artists and songwriters like Rod Temperton, Hall & Oates, and Brian Jackson. Fast forward to 2025 and I have this song, ‘DIG!’, about 80% written. It needed a final touch—some special sauce. Brian was in the UK touring, so I invited him to my studio to hang out. What you hear is what happened next. It’s a song we’re both very proud of.”

With the foundation of “DIG!” already in place, Jackson’s contributions—vocals, keys, and flute—became the final spark, bringing a deep-rooted musical lineage to the track. The song is the result of that long-anticipated reunion, capturing the chemistry between two artists united by a shared love of groove-driven music with something meaningful to say.

Mamas Gun’s lineup—Andy Platts (vocals, guitar), Chris Boot (drums), Cameron Dawson (bass), Terry Lewis (guitar), and Dave Oliver (keys)—continues to channel classic soul through a modern lens. Together, they balance vintage textures with contemporary clarity, drawing from jazz, gospel, funk, and R&B traditions while remaining unmistakably current.

“DIG!” is available now on all streaming platforms and serves as the title statement for Mamas Gun’s forthcoming album. Following a UK Tour in March and April, Mama’s Gun will hit California for three coastal dates in June, with more US dates to follow.
