Kris Angelis Releases Her Sixth Album, 'Le Sigh'

Playful and heartfelt — Her Most Accomplished and Autobiographical Album Yet

Singer-songwriter Kris Angelis has been telling stories through songs since she was a young girl growing up on a farm in Florida, harmonizing with her identical twin sister in their backyard treehouse and dreaming of Broadway. That journey—spanning cross-country tours, award-winning releases, and deep emotional storytelling—culminates today in the release of her sixth and most accomplished album yet, Le Sigh.

The album’s title track, “Le Sigh,” serves as its emotional centerpiece and focus single. Equal parts cinematic and self-aware, the song offers a tongue-in-cheek reflection on heartbreak and romantic entanglements—what Angelis calls “a little bit of making fun of myself for being so dramatic but doing it anyway.” With its lush, continental flavor and hints of French New Wave film, the track evokes the playful melancholy of The Girl from Ipanema meeting a spaghetti western. “All of the songs kind of have that feeling,” she says. “A deep, self-centering sigh. Going through these painful experiences are all part of my growth as a person and artist.”

Other standout songs on Le Sigh include the bluesy “Is That You?”, which channels the spirit of Bonnie Raitt in a tale of lost love and ghostly regret, and “Last Call Train,” a plaintive reflection on waiting for a lover who never arrives. Each track adds another layer to an album that plays like an interior conversation—letters to her past self and to the people she can’t quite reach anymore.

Produced by Rachael Moore (T-Bone Burnett, Robert Plant/Alison Krauss) at Middletree Studios in Nashville, Le Sigh features a stellar lineup of musicians including Jamie Dick (drums), Brian Allen (bass/cello), Joe Pisapia, Russ Paul, and Sean Thompson (guitars), and background vocals from Mallory Trunnell and Laura Harding.

Since her debut The Left Atrium, Angelis has carved out a reputation as a modern troubadour, her music finding acclaim across Americana and singer-songwriter circles. Her 2020 release That Siren, Hope debuted at #1 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart and was the highest-charting independent release that week on the Billboard Top Current Albums chart, earning her a spot in the GRAMMY NEXT program.

Now based in Carmel, Kris is ready to share Le Sigh with the world — a collection that captures both the heartbreak and humor of learning to let go. “This album is about all the things I’ve wanted to say but couldn’t — to people I’ve loved, to myself, to moments that have already passed,” she reflects. “Le Sigh is that breath you take when you finally accept what’s gone, and start to move forward with grace.”
