A message from Scout Durwood about joining the Kirk Pasich Project on new Melissa Etheridge reimagining
There's always something really fun and cheeky about leaning into the lesbian-ness of it all. In the past, like when we did "Hanky Panky" on the One Woman Army EP, I have changed or not changed pronouns to align with my sexuality--I'm very, very gay--and Zach Ross, Kirk Pasich and I had a thought pretty early on to tackle some canon lesbian ballads with this upcoming album we had decided to call Woman Love.
I was initially unsure of how to reinterpret a song as iconic as "Come To My Window", but co-producer Zach came up with the idea of making it stalker-ish, almost creepy, and I was pretty happy to follow his lead. It's funny and hard trying to tackle a song that's such a big thing on its own. It's campy now but "Come To My Window" was a big freaking deal for me growing up.
I'm in a moment in my life where I really just want to play the fiddle and live by a bayou--I have no idea how to play fiddle, or violin for that matter, but I love the swampy sound we landed on.
