The Blue Élan Family Releases a Tribute to The Guess Who's "Share the Land"

The Guess Who - "Share the Land" covered by The Blue Élan Family in their newest single.

The Guess Who - Share The Land written by Burton Cummings

The Guess Who released Share the Land in 1970. They were one of the hardest-working bands in Canada, finally reaching mainstream success in 1969. Their band leader Burton Cummings named "one of the finest voices in Rock Music" wrote Share the Land; I think we can all agree it was a hit because it charted #2  in Canada,#10 on the Billboard Hot 100and #63 in Australia that same year.

Share the Land's Encourages a Spirit of Togetherness

The Guess Who released this track in the midst of the Modern Day Environmental Movement. Cummings wrote an ode to togetherness that joined the world in the fight against the impact of environmental damage on the human population. Today, our recording of "Share the Land" seems to take on a whole new meaning; transforming into an anthem of what's to come, as we all look ahead to a world where we can shake hands, and share the land once more.

In the words of our Co-Founder Kirk Pasich:

"I’ve always been a big fan of the Guess Who. Our artists came together to revisit one of their classics, “Share the Land.” It’s seems appropriate in these times. I think we did it justice, and I hope it reminds people of how great the Guess Who were."
Months ago, more than 20 Blue Élan artists and staff members joined together in-studio for a day of music-making and laughter, as we celebrated the spirit of collaboration, and the legacy of The Guess Who. That day in the studio, full of love and family, was caught on film, and will be released as a music video on Earth Day, 4/22, at 3PM PST.
