    Happy Juneteenth!

Today is an important day in history. June 19th, nationally recognized as “Juneteenth” is the oldest celebrated day in Black history commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States.

Two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, Major General Gordon Granger traveled to Galveston, Texas with news that the enslaved were free. Juneteenth marks the end to centuries of Black enslavement in America and the events of 1865 are not forgotten. This year and every year going forward, Blue Élan Records is recognizing Juneteenth as an official company holiday in order to honor, acknowledge, and remember this significant day 155 years ago. We encourage everyone to take this time to learn about and celebrate all that is Black culture. To our friends in Los Angeles, we'd also like to encourage you to enact change by supporting local Black-owned businesses. We've curated a list of our own, which you can access by clicking right here. https://youtu.be/q4xzMDIwTEs
