On Tuesday, we'll join many others in the music industry in closing for business for the day. Our purpose: to join in providing “a day to disconnect from work and reconnect with our community” and to take “an urgent step of action to provoke accountability and change.”
There comes a time to say "Enough is enough." Frankly, that time came long ago, and the events of the last week have served as a stark reminder of how unacceptable discrimination is, and how intolerable it is that people are arrested, harassed, and murdered simply for being black.
We will not be conducting any business whatsoever on Tuesday. No phone calls, no e-mails, no texts, no meetings, nothing--no exceptions whatsoever.
However, Tuesday won't be a holiday for us. Instead, all of our staff will dedicate Tuesday to being the first of many days thinking about how we, as a label, can make a real difference. We need to do more.
This has to stop. It’s time to stand up and make a difference. We're in this together. #BlackLivesMatter
