5 Spooky Questions You've Always Wanted to Ask Rod Gator

Friday the 13th sits in a special, mysterious place in our cultural calendar, with countless urban legends, movies, tv shows, and even video games tied to the date. Some say it has its roots in biblical history, while others point to the French massacre of the knights Templar on a Friday the 13th in the 1300's, but many agree that misfortune abounds. Whether you believe all that, and the bad luck that comes with it, or just chalk it up to triskaidekaphobia (the fear of the number 13), there's no denying the eeriness that hangs in the air on this day.

Truly, Friday the 13th is a day with more questions than answers; to help unravel those mysteries, and plant a few of his own, we've asked Rod Gator to sit with with us around the campfire and break down why Friday the 13th resonates with him.

Speaking of slashers, we've slashed 30% OFF all Rod Gator merch in our store today only (3/13). That’s right. All Rod Gator merch in our store from vinyl and CDs, to t-shirts, are on sale. So get at that Goin' Out West bandana you've been pining for, or that limited green Pinkville vinyl for a killer price. And don't forget, those Pinkville CDs come with Bayside Breeze car fresheners! https://youtu.be/aqCvD4CgHtk To celebrate his scary-good sale, Rod's sat down with us to answer some scary-good questions:

What’s the scariest thing that’s ever happened to you?

"I was bit by a snake when I was ten years old. I had to be rushed to the hospital. It was venomous. Tons of other moments that fans are better off not knowing about."

    What’s your favorite horror movie?

    "The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre."

What’s the best Halloween costume you’ve ever put together?

"Snake Plissken even though it wasn’t Halloween. I shall wear it on Halloween."

Any advice to avoid bad luck on Friday the 13th?

    "Stay home."

Do you believe in ghosts? If so, have you ever seen one?

"I go back and forth about it. I’ve never seen one but I’ve heard whispers. Could have just been the things I did in my early 20s coming back to haunt me."

Favorite horror film director and why?

"Even though he only directed one horror film, I’m gonna say Kubrick. Well I guess A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket is actually pretty scary at times. The Shining is probably the best aside from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Kubrick is one of the greatest of all time so that automatically puts him at the top."
