On
LOVE ME MADLY, SICILIA slides smoothly into a wide range of soul music, from pop-inflected, hooky tunes to horn-drenched heart-stoppers showcasing her ability to climb inside a song and inhabit it, so that the lyrics and music flow effortlessly from her body, heart, and soul.
As Cody Dickinson says, “Our visions matched wonderfully. Philly soul meets Memphis soul with some country blues for good measure. While writing, the pop music was unexpected and totally organic. We went where the music led us.”
LOVE ME MADLY features all the elements of soul-shaking, heart-rending, body-moving music. Every song elevates its listeners outside of themselves while reaching deep into their emotional core. First single, “Misery with You” floats along a solid river of Luther Dickinson’s slide guitar and reaches sonic heights with SICILIA’s rich vocals.
Other notable guests on the album include:
Rev. Charles Hodges (Al Green, Boz Scaggs, Tom Jones among others) who played organ on the album, the horns, strings and trumpet were arranged by
Marc Franklin (Aretha Franklin, BB King, Solomon Burke, Cyndi Lauper, the Gregg Allman Band among others). The album was tracked at Royal Studios in Memphis, owned by the legendary Lawrence “Boo” Mitchell, who has worked with
Al Green, Soloman Burke, Lamont Dozier, Rod Stewart, among many other greats.
Since nabbing a Blues Music Award nomination for Best New Artist, SICILIA has enjoyed great chart and radio success in the genre. Her last album,
Heard the Lie, debuted at #10 on the Billboard Blues chart while
Tug Of War reached #3 on the Contemporary Blues Album chart.
Tug Of War was also the #1 roots album in Tennessee. "Abandoned" reached #2 on the Contemporary Blues Song chart, "He Called Me Baby" reached #1 on the Soul Blues Radio chart, and “I Don’t Want To Be In Love” reached #3 on the Contemporary Blues Radio
chart. SICILIA has opened for
Joe Bonamassa,
Kenny Wayne Shepherd,
Joan Osborne and
Beth Hart, along with other distinguished blues contemporaries.
