Produced by her longtime friend, producer and collaborator Dave Darling, the album is a powerfully engaging, emotionally rich collection from a dynamic artist who continues to renew and redefine her widely celebrated relationship with the blues. Janiva’s far-ranging search for songs has unearthed a treasure chest of lesser-known gems by well-known artists (Bill Withers, Ray LaMontagne, Allen Toussaint, Doyle Bramhall II, Tracy Nelson, Irma Thomas) and deep-dive discoveries that connect with the rich feelings embodied in her voice and music, cherished by her fans.

Back For Me is the 17th album for Magness, who has been honored with seven Blues Music Awards (including being named B.B. With a career spanning multiple decades, Dayton has left an indelible mark as a chart-topping songwriter, guitar virtuoso, author, frontman, sideman, producer, and relentless road warrior. From his early days with the Road Kings, where he fearlessly melded Texas Rockabilly and Country with the raw energy of Punk Rock, Dayton has been a trailblazer. His innovation not only earned him acclaim, but also paved the way for collaborations with legends like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson. Over the years, Dayton's collaborations have spanned a diverse array of artists, from blues sensation Samantha Fish—his partner on the Grammy-nominated Death Wish Blues—to icons of country like Willie Nelson and Glenn Campbell, rock rebels such as Guns 'N Roses' Duff McKagan and Glenn Danzig, and even visionary horror filmmakers like Rob Zombie. Building on his signature outlaw sound, Dayton explains, "I wanted to make something that reflected where I'm at right now; so, we turned a musical corner and embraced a big sound with a lot of ripping, bluesy guitar leads. Sometimes, it sounds like Freddie King. Sometimes, it sounds like Jimmy Page. This record was completely liberating for me because it goes back to so many of my longtime influences. I don't care about genres, trends, or buzz words — I just care about being truthful to my own vision, and that's what The Hard Way Blues allowed me to do." Crafted in the heart of Hollywood, " The Hard Way Blues stands as a testament to Dayton's esteemed career, meticulously blending his rowdy spirit with timeless influences and showcasing his versatility and artistry in an irresistibly melodic collection of American music.

Jesse’s vision began taking shape during his childhood in Southeast Texas. "Growing up, there were some very loyal scenes — you were either goth or punk or blues or rockabilly or Austin retro country — but I liked a little bit of all of it, to tell you the truth," he remembers. Years later, his music still mirrors that diversity. "My wheelhouse is rock, country, and blues," Dayton says. "Whatever I'm doing, it's somewhere in that world. Dayton's no stranger to the stage — in addition to playing lead guitar for legends like Willie Nelson and Glen Campbell in the recording studio, he regularly plays more than 100 shows a year, fronting his own band one minute and backing up acts like X and the Supersuckers the next — but he hit a new high-water mark in 2023. Death Wish Blues, his collaboration with blues heroine Samantha Fish, became a global hit and landed the duo a Grammy nomination. Dayton suddenly found himself playing to crowds as large as 4,000. Already a cult hero to legions of fans, Dayton was now something else: a contemporary chart-topper with an audience that continued to soar. Longtime champions like Rolling Stone took note of the new momentum, praising Dayton for "attracting a boisterous crowd at every stage he played [with] his charismatic stage presence and a hard-to-pin-down mix of old-school country, rock and punk."

"What's happening to me right now isn't supposed to happen to someone at my age," Dayton says. "I'm still getting bigger, and that makes me so grateful. Recorded in less than a week, these songs capture an artist on the ascent, with Dayton honoring his influences even as he molds their inspiration into something new. "The Hard Way" fires twin barrels of '70s-sized rock & roll and power-pop hooks — "it's like the Who meets Dave Edmunds," he explains — while "Navasota" spins its story of small-town conservatism and wanderlust against a backdrop of stomping groove, bluesy muscle, and hard-charging dynamics. Written in the wake of John Prine's passing, "Angel In My Pocket" unfolds like a gorgeous love letter from a traveling musician to his loved ones back home. Recorded in the hard-touring quintet’s native Ohio and produced for the first time by the band itself, the collection is a larger-than-life ode to hope and perseverance, a celebration of the fire we carry within and the commitment that keeps us going even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. The songs are all interconnected here, woven together through intros and outros and interludes that help propel them on a metaphorical journey through the dark of night, and the performances are as muscular as they are meticulous, fueled by addictive hooks and exhilarating instrumental work that shines on an even footing with Terry’s rich and magnetic vocals. We were finally ready to catch the butterfly and pin it in the book ourselves.”

Hailed as “Midwestern rock heroes” by American Songwriter, Red Wanting Blue first emerged from central Ohio in the mid-1990s and would go on to spend much of the next two-and-a-half decades amassing a legion of lifelong fans through a relentless tour schedule that regularly kept them on the road 200 nights a year. Along the way, the band notched appearances everywhere from Letterman to NPR, garnered praise from the likes of Rolling Stone and Esquire, and climbed to #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, but they did it all while operating largely outside of the confines of the traditional music industry, blazing their own unique trail through the American heartland as they built up the kind of fanatically dedicated audiences normally reserved for arena acts. The band’s most recent album, 2018’s The Wanting, took their equally gritty and uplifting sound to new heights, but it also revealed a fresh way forward for a group that had long-prided itself on independence and self-sufficiency on the road.

“I think The Wanting gave us a kind of confidence in the studio that we’d never really felt before,” Terry explains. “We could hear the gap narrowing between the demos we were making on our own and the finished product we were putting out into the world, and everyone was beginning to see their respective roles in the process with more clarity and purpose. Light It Up is the sound of each of us stepping up and filling those roles in a really exciting way.”

Rather than recording the album in a single, concentrated session, as they often had in the past, Red Wanting Blue decided to tackle the new record in a slower, more deliberate fashion, cutting just a song or two at a time in a series of shorter get-togethers that allowed them to experiment more than ever before. Where previous records were almost entirely written by Terry, this time around the rest of the band—guitarist Eric Hall, drummer Dean Anshutz, bassist Mark McCullough, and keyboardist Greg Rahm—took a more prominent role in the process, crafting lush instrumental beds, exploring new sounds and arrangements, and reimagining song structures with unexpected twists and turns.

“Without even needing to talk about it, I think we all naturally acted as producers at different times on this record,” says Anshutz. “A lot of these songs were written right before we recorded them, so we were living on the edge and just following our gut.”

“The litmus test for each of these songs was essentially: is it fun to play?” adds Hall. “When you’re having fun, you’re more carefree, which makes it easier to go out on creative limbs without overthinking the ambition out of your ideas.”

That ambition is plain to hear from the start on Light It Up, which begins with a lo-fi, meditative introductory track dubbed “First Spark.” “If I’m the fire in your light / And you’re the fuel in my spark / Then let’s illuminate the dark,” Terry sings in an uncharacteristically hushed, almost prayer-like tone. It’s a call to arms as much as it is an invitation, at once a mission statement for the band and a rallying cry for their audience as they embark on a journey through an album that refuses to let the darkness win. The intoxicating “Hey ‘84” revels in nostalgia and the promise of youth as it celebrates the power of love and art to propel us through hard times and beyond; the soaring title track doubles down on faith and resolve, insisting that it’s never too late to become the people we’re meant to be; and the towering “Goliath” rushes headlong into battle for a righteous cause, certain of victory no matter how unlikely it may seem.

“That song came out of watching all these David and Goliath stories play out in the news around us, both at home and abroad,” Terry explains. “But it also felt really personal for us, too. It has been decades since New York-native Janey Street sat at the top of the charts as one of Clive Davis' protégées. Street was welcomed to Arista Records by none other than the hit man himself, Davis. In short order, two singles, "Under the Clock" and "Say Hello To Ronnie," charted on Billboard and were in heavy rotation at VH-1 and then just as quickly, she was dropped. Later, persuaded by her longtime friend Janis Ian to move to Nashville, she mentored young songwriters and gave house concerts. Now signed to Blue Elan records, In My Own Skin is the second release for the label. The album was produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Dave Darling and features a new version of "Under the Clock" as well as 11 other tracks with musical influences that run deep into retro R&B, rock 'n' roll and multiple other genres. On Deep Waters, her eighth studio album, Alexander explores love in all its forms- sacred, passionate, sexual, maternal, even remorseful and misguided-and always with an unrelenting truthfulness. In both her music and vocal delivery, there is a boldness that demands the listener lean in and surrender to her fearless take on life's messy complications and rich joys. When she started work on Deep Waters, Alexander was ready for a change. That meant taking a leap of faith. After working with producer and good friend Dave Darling (Boxing Gandhis, Meredith Brooks) for years, she partnered with acclaimed artist, writer and producer Colin Devlin, best known for his solo work and as half of leading Irish duo, The Devlins. Set up by Blue Élan Records founder/president Kirk Pasich, Alexander and Devlin went on the musical equivalent of a blind date. "The first thing we were trying to do was see if these two strangers could create anything without having any rules or parameters about what we were going to say or how we were going to do it," she says. "I usually write all my own lyrics. This time, there was someone else's experiences and life coming in and adding more meaning and context into every song." For Alexander, her time has come with Deep Waters. "I feel like you can't stop me now. As much as this is a story about a comedian, singer, and actress, it really starts with a kid who wore a tiara to school every day... That kid grew up to be Scout Durwood. Many years before she made audiences laugh starring on MTV's Mary + Jane (Produced by Snoop Dogg) and Oxygen's Funny Girls, she knew that being different was her greatest strength. That free spirit defines her first album for Blue Élan Records, Take One Thing Off. "Growing up, I was painfully weird, but blissfully unaware of it," she smiles "I was everybody's lovable little weirdo. After college, I moved to New York. I knew I wanted to be in show business, and in my mind, the way to make it was to be the most original, most creative, and most outside-the-box." She went way outside-the-box, spending nearly five years as a draw in New York's burlesque scene: named as one of the Huffington Post's "20 Burlesque Stars to Know," to boot. With this unforgettable experience under her belt, she traded the Big Apple for Los Angeles in 2012. Jack Tempchin and Glenn Frey were friends for a long time before either became world-famous, Jack as a hit songwriter and Glenn as an Eagle. It's a friendship first sparked back in 1972 when Frey, then a member of the duo Longbranch Pennywhistle with J.D. Souther, spent a San Diego night at Jack's big house and candle factory, a beloved hippie crash pad. Two years later at his friend Jackson Browne's L.A. home, Jack played Glenn a new song he'd written about a waitress in El Centro called "Peaceful Easy Feeling." So enthralled was Frey by the tune that he recorded it on cassette tape, telling Jack that he'd formed a new band eight days earlier, and wanted to play it for them. Jack's reaction: "Whoa, yeah!" That band was the Eagles. The next day Glenn returned with a recording of the Eagles singing this song. Hearing that track with those now-iconic Eagles harmonies blew his mind. "It was," he said, "the best thing I had ever heard." He already knew Frey was a fine solo singer, but had no clue about his greatness as an arranger and harmony singer. The song became one of The Eagles' most beloved hits, a triumph Jack attributed more to the band than the songwriter. "It is not a normal love song," he said. "But The Eagles, with their arrangement, breathed life into it." It's success led him on a lifelong songwriting path from which he's never veered since. As a solo artist, Tempchin has recorded twelve albums over the years. Now comes Peaceful Easy Feeling - The Songs of Jack Tempchin on Blue Elan Records. A poignant tribute to his fabled friendship with his "musical brother, " Frey, it features Jack's own renditions ten of their songs, performed solo and with guest vocalists Rita Coolidge, Janiva Magness, Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen. "This album," wrote Jack in the liner notes, "is dedicated to my great friend of 46 years, Glenn Frey. Glenn and I always had a fabulous time writing songs together. We would talk about our lives and laugh. He was the funniest person I've ever had the pleasure to know. It was my great good fortune that my buddy happened to be one of the best songwriters of all time. Goodbye my friend and musical brother. Thanks for all the wonderful times." Raised in San Diego, Jack became one of America's most prolific and widely-covered songwriters, crafting classics for himself as a solo artist and band member (as part of the legendary Funky Kings) as well as for a host of other artists, including George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Tom Waits, Glen Campbell, Jackson Browne, Dwight Yoakam, Linda Ronstadt, Tanya Tucker, and many more. Includes digital download. 2016 album from the veteran singer/songwriter. Jack Tempchin is known for penning some of the most durable tunes in American music for a variety of artists that includes the Eagles, George Jones, Glenn Frey, Randy Meisner, Glen Campbell, Emmylou Harris, Trisha Yearwood, Chris Hillman, Patty Loveless, Tom Rush, Kate Wolf, and many others. He's also co-written with a who's who of American roots, rock, country, and folk composers that embraces Tom Waits, J.D. Souther, Bobby Whitlock, Jim Lauderdale and Beth Nielsen Chapman. His iconic songs comprise a soundtrack to a fabled era, but Jack Tempchin creates music in the present tense. One More Song reveals the vibrant spirit of an artist moving forward. "My brain is exploding with songs," he enthuses. "It's great to have things that you've already written that people like - and I play them all when I do a show - but the creative flow demands that when I write a song and really love it, I want to get it out right now." One More Song honors Tempchin's coffeehouse roots. "A guy, an audience, and a song," he says. Circle Ties That Bind, from the collection is one of the first songs Jack wrote; and although the great Hoyt Axton performed it in concert, until now it has never been translated on record. In fact, of the 12 songs curated for the latest project, only three have been previously recorded. The title track, covered both by the late Kate Wolf and the Eagles' Randy Meisner, and Singing in the Streets, originally tracked by Jack's band the Funky Kings who were signed to Arista Records by Clive Davis. The band also cut the venerable Slow Dancing (Swayin' to the Music) famously immortalized by Johnny Rivers, now performed by Jack in an evocative solo rendition.

Track Listing:

SIDE A

Slow Dancing

Singing In The Streets

Old River

Around Midnight

Circle Ties That Bind

So Long My Friend

SIDE B

Still Looking For A Way To Say Goodbye

I Got Her Right Where She Wants Me

Song For You

Tumbleweed

One More Song

Learning to Dance

Vinyl LP pressing. 2015 album from the acclaimed singer/songwriter. Circle Ties That Bind, from the collection, is one of the first songs Jack wrote; and although the great Hoyt Axton performed it in concert until now it has never been translated on record. In fact, of the 12 songs curated for the latest project, only three have been previously recorded. The title track, covered both by the late Kate Wolf and the Eagles' Randy Meisner, and Singing in the Streets, was originally tracked by Jack's band the Funky Kings who were signed to Arista Records by Clive Davis. The band also cut the venerable Slow Dancing (Swayin' to the Music) famously immortalized by Johnny Rivers, now performed by Jack in an evocative solo rendition.

Track Listing:

SIDE A

Slow Dancing

Singing In The Streets

Old River

Around Midnight

Circle Ties That Bind

So Long My Friend

SIDE B

Still Looking For A Way To Say Goodbye

I Got Her Right Where She Wants Me

Song For You

Tumbleweed

One More Song

Product images are for illustration purposes only. It has been decades since New York-native Janey Street sat at the top of the charts as one of Clive Davis' protégées. Street was welcomed to Arista Records by none other than the hitman himself, Davis. In short order, two singles, "Under the Clock" and "Say Hello To Ronnie," charted on Billboard and were in heavy rotation at VH-1, and then just as quickly, she was dropped. Later, persuaded by her longtime friend Janis Ian to move to Nashville, she mentored young songwriters and gave house concerts. Now signed to Blue Élan Records, In My Own Skin is the second release for the label. The album was produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Dave Darling and features a new version of "Under the Clock" as well as 11 other tracks with musical influences that run deep into retro R&B, rock 'n' roll and multiple other genres. Street's timeless lyrics continue to be reflective of current concerns.

Track Listing:

Wrap My Mind Around You

When You Are Loved

In My Own Skin

Guilty Pleasures

Undone

Sex is Easy Love is Hard

I Wanna Love You Deep

Mixed Up

Wreckage

Waiting in the Wings

Dignity

Under The Clock

My Side of Paradise

My Side of Paradise is the first album from Janey Street since her 2003 effort Street Less Traveled. Street's career ignited in the 1980s with several hit singles and videos while signed to Arista Records by Clive Davis. The years that followed proved anticlimactic professionally, but she never gave up on her commitment to music. That dream drove her as she moved from New York City to L.A. to Nashville, writing music for movies and TV to living on odd jobs to pay the rent. My Side of Paradise is a tour de force collection of songs about heartbreak, loss, love and simply feeling blue or feeling great for no particular reason. The album is a prism, reflecting multiple sides of Street in which listeners can see their own lives reflected. Vivid images come to view, mirroring each other, as complex yet as simple as the stories they illustrate. This album is sure to take you on an emotional journey. In 13 tracks, Street tells her story through music that rings with humor, truth, wisdom, and plenty of soul. Crafted with the expertise of Grammy-nominated producer Dave Darling, My Side of Paradise will surely be a musical experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Track Listing:

Among The Missing

Good Side

Bring It On

House Of Mirrors

Situation

Tears Taste The Same

I'm Not The Girl I Used To Know

End

Grand Delusion

My Side of Paradise

Radar

Scat Like Ella

End Of The Day

I'm Not The Girl I Used to Know

The time has come to meet Janey Street. Her name alone sets the stage for her debut EP for Blue Élan Records. Deep in the swamp lands of South Louisiana, found in the small towns off State Highway 14, along the Parish lines and the borders that dwell with the native sons of this often unseen heartland, there are stories waiting to be told. There are ghosts to conjure up in the night fires and bayou jamborees.

It takes a special artist to conjure up the soul of the land through song and story. Welcome to the world of Southern Gothic. It is a world that is uniquely Rod Gator, born and bred in South Louisiana. Gator has recorded a collection of songs that deliver the feel of haunted and hunted swampy, South Louisiana nights. Brian Whelan's production takes the purity of Rod's style, enhances and magnifies it. Each of these songs tells it's own story, from the inner hell of addiction to the loyalty of a family friend, to an inside view of tragedy, to the redemption found in a life-long love.

Track Listing:

With the Devil

Perry

Lights of Carencro

Dwayne and Me

Promises

Redhead

Praying for Light

Mary Lou

Different Man

Outskirts of You

CD copy of Nowhere to Hide

Instant download of the digital album upon purchase

Released in 2018, singer/songwriter Cindy Alexander has the ability to write from a personal place that touches universal emotions in all of us. Nowhere To Hide was recorded in live single takes, played together by the musicians in the same room.
